Melbourne Essendon plane crash: 5 dead after small plane crashes
A light Aircraft who is carrying five people crashed into a shopping center near the Australian city of Melbourne, officials said that sending black smoke spread in the air.
"It appears to be a very tragic incident that has occurred out there," state police minister Lisa Neville talked with reporters.
She could not told casualty figures but confirmed five people were on board the charter from Essendon, north of Melbourne, to King Island, 55 minutes to the south.
Live television footage showed burnout wreck and major damage at the shopping centre and beside the buildings. "It appears light plane, which is a charter flight, has hit the DFO (Direct Factory Outlet) at Essendon Fields," Neville added.
